From the first signs frescoed on the walls of shops at the dawn of time to those painted on fixed supports, from the neon illuminated signs born in the nineteen-fifties to the latest generation LED ones. The history of advertising signs on shops and companies is long and complex.
But the last step, the one that elected light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the champions of light communication, seems to be the decisive one. The advantages of LEDcompared to traditional lighting sources, in fact, are obvious. Let's look at them together.
Long service life
LEDs can boast an average lifespan ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 hours, much more than that of traditional lighting.
LEDs can achieve an energy saving level of 90% compared to traditional incandescent lighting, 80% compared to halogen and 50% compared to energy-saving lamps.
Reduced heat output
Unlike other technologies, LEDs work at low temperatures because much of the energy is transformed into light instead of being lost in heat. This feature allows them to be used with different types of materials.
The latest generation LEDs have significantly lower consumption than traditional lighting, even energy-saving lamps, because they can reach 180 lumens / Watt.
In short, the era of LED illuminated signs is now established and unstoppable. In Italy, few companies have the experience and expertise to design and manufacture high-level LED signs. Among these there is Eliosneon, to whom we owe the realization in the 1930s of the first neon sign in the history in our country.
